Choose from two styles – OE (Original Equipment) Style fitting or Low Profile Fitting. Alstonville Automotive Services can replicate most OE brake and clutch hoses with stainless braided hose that complies with DOT standards.

If your brake hoses need to be modified due to a change in suspension travel to your vehicle, we can manufacture these hoses to different lengths, in both braided and rubber.

Alstonville Automotive Services also manufactures low profile braided brake hoses for motorcycles.

Some Things To Know About Brake Hoses

How to know if your vehicle could be suffering from a faulty brake hose:

  • A low or spongy pedal usually indicates that the hose is old, soft and weak, allowing it to expand under pressure.
  • If your vehicle is pulling to one side this could be caused by the front hoses being blocked or restricted.
  • A feeling of your brakes ‘being on’ whilst your foot is not on the pedal – Brake Drag – could be caused by a restricted hoses.
  • Intermittent braking problems could be cause by a brake hose being internally fractures creating a one way check valve effect.

Rubber brake hoses have a relatively short life. The most effective way to look for faulty brake hoses is to check them when they are under extreme pressure. A brake hoses could appear ‘OK’, but when they are subjected to extreme pressure in an emergency, they need to be in good condition to handle the sudden stress. Most booster-assisted braking systems can reach pressures of approximately 1,500 p.s.i.

Some Facts About Brake Hoses:

  • Average life of a brake hose is six years.
  • Brake hoses deteriorate from the inside as well as the outside.
  • Moisture is absorbed into brake fluid systems through brake hoses.
  • Contaminants in brake fluid act abrasively on the inner wall of brake hoses.
  • Brake hose reinforcing fabric deteriorates through expansion and moisture.
  • High operating temperatures in brake systems contribute to the deterioration of hoses.
  • Brake hoses swell with age and restrict flow.

Important: Faulty Brake Hoses are an Invisible Safety Hazard

Power Steering Hose Manufacturing

Alstonville Automotive Services also custom manufactures in-house power steering hoses to suit any vehicle to exact manufacture’s specifications using the latest technology provided by BrakeQuip Australia. Only the highest OEM quality hose components are used. A choice of brazed on or compression fittings and hoses that incorporate noise resistant technology is available.

A brazed on choice allows for the reusing of the existing fittings and can be an economical repair for most power steering hoses. It is recommended by BrakeQuip Australia that both, high pressure and low pressure hoses be replaced at the same time. Alstonville Automotive Services can manufacture both types – high pressure and low pressure – hoses in-house.

Alstonville Automotive Services offers this service and sells to both, the automotive trade and to the general public.
